The issue

The candidates should develop a personal either collective artistic research or intervention coping with the river. Both the Cervo River in Biella and other rivers and/or streams may be used as case-study, since such fluvial systems embody a dense layering of social, historical, industrial, extractive, colonial, environmental and geological issues. Starting from the fluvial system, the candidates may work on documentation, on performance, on media works, on representational and non-representational media, on stories and narrations, on sound and videos, on socially engaged practices.

To summarize, the call is open to proposals that intend the fluvial system as an infrastructure for an otherwise way of inhabiting future frictions of contemporary times.

The Commission is composed by artists and scholars from Accademia Unidee and Unidee Residency Program. All of them work with the issue of water either from a scientific or artistic point of view.

Any media or form of expression is accepted.

The ranking will be based upon the following:

  • Feasibility according to the given budget and time
  • Quality of the research
  • Coherence with the regional challenges

The winning proposal will be published online before Monday 06/06/2022.
